Work With The
Team of Awesome!
Who is Phoenix?
Founded in 2015 by Melanie Kilo, a mental health social worker and registered creative arts therapist, Phoenix Wings Wellness is all about helping people thrive. After experiencing personal loss in 2007, Melanie returned to study, earning her Master of Social Work at La Trobe University and later a Master in Therapeutic Arts Practice from MIECAT. Her journey inspired her to create a practice that supports children, young people, and families through creative strategies to manage mental health and process trauma.
When her son came out as transgender in 2018, Melanie's passion for supporting marginalised young people grew even stronger. To better serve her clients, she recently completed a graduate certificate in Intersectionality, Diversity, and Inclusion through Charles Sturt University, enhancing her understanding of diverse needs and community-focused care.
In 2021, Phoenix Wings Wellness evolved from a sole proprietorship to a private company, expanding its reach across Albury/Wodonga, Chiltern, Wahgunyah, Corowa, and Wagga, with plans to grow further. Our team of dedicated therapists, support workers, and facilitators offers one-on-one psychotherapy, workshops, training, and tailored support programs. Located on Townsend St, Albury, there is easy access to the CBD, parking, and cafes.
We specialise in using creative arts therapies and mindful expression to help clients of all ages navigate life’s challenges and build capacity. Whether working with children, young people, women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, neurodivergent people, or anyone who feels “outside the norm,” our motto is simple: “We do weird well here.” At Phoenix Wings Wellness, you can truly be yourself. Let’s walk this journey together.

What else?
A Feast For The Senses: There is a lot of colour and fun here at Phoenix with two wall murals and a dark sensory safe room. We cater to a range of sensory sensitivities, with low lighting, calming music, and soft furnishings (for both the clients and us!).
A Feast For The Body: We also have snacks (dietaries catered for) and regular walking breaks with Mel to go get coffee or your choice of beverage (her shout!). Silas the golden retriever is often available for a walk around the block when he is in the office too if you need a breather.
We’re all about creativity, connection, and making weird work. If that sounds like your vibe, and you have at least 2 years of experience as an allied health professional such as a social worker, counsellor, occupational therapist, speech therapist, or psychologist, we’d love to have you on board. Contact Mel through the form below to set up a meet to discuss what this looks like for you. Let's make awesome happen!
