Joys of Parenthood

Parenthood is one of the hardest AND most rewarding jobs in the world. For all of the tough, teary days, there are also days filled with of love and laughter....and here are a few reasons to remind us of why parenting can be completely amazing.

Throughout the month June, we delve into, and remind you on ‘the joys of parenthood'.

You get to play like a kid again
One of the most fun joys of parenthood is playing like a child again. Sometimes we forget as adults to just have fun...and you have to admit, how great is it to join in on their crazy antics - and just for a little while, let yourself escape from the stress of the real world. There’s no such thing as bills... or laundry – just pure and simple happiness.

Can give us meaning
So many people wander around trying to find meaning in life and for or many, that meaning is found in their children. Raising kids is a huge deal. You’re molding these little minds as they grow and change. They begin to mimic things you do. You start to see yourself in them (eeekkk).

Those tiny little faces could be the future leaders of the world, corporate CEO, scientists, artist or conservationist. The world is their oyster and whatever path they choose to take, you will support them, no matter what it is.

Connect back to the simple things in life
If you sit back and watch children...really watch them – they show us the simple things in life. Kids can find beauty in pretty much anything.....the weeds in the garden can be pretty flowers, a simple rock can be transformed into something spectacular with imaginative story behind it....and don't even get me started on the fifty million things toilet rolls can be turned into!

Kids don’t worry about the big picture, they can see enjoy each second and find fun in those seconds. They stare at bugs (sometimes for hours), they smile at strangers - they don’t care about what they look like or what people think. Children give us the joy of knowing (and sometimes remind us) the simple things are the most important things in life.

Laughter
Parenthood is full of times when you can’t help but laugh....even when they do crazy things that make you want to pull your hair out, you have to laugh a little.

So many times adults forget to laugh and smile in the world as everything weighs on their shoulders. Kids remind us that there’s love and laughter everywhere around us. Just listen to them try to rehash a story they heard at school or sing a funny song. Kids are the best comedians out there!

Now, being a parent is all sunshine and roses, but sometimes during those hard days, it might be good to stop and reflect on some of the things we've mentioned here. And as soon as your child smiles at you and says “I love you”...it makes all the hardship worth it - all those stresses and frustrations melt away and you realise, you wouldn’t change a thing.

Embrace the madness of parenting. It won’t be long before your little ones become grown and then you’ll be longing for their attention.
